Terms of use
Please read the safety section even if you skip the rest. It is the part that matters.
By using reelconditions.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Not a navigational aid — read this one
ReelConditions must not be used for navigation or for any decision affecting the safety of life or property. Tide predictions shown here are astronomical: they assume no weather at all, and they do not account for wind, storm surge, atmospheric pressure, river discharge or ice. Real water levels routinely differ from prediction, sometimes by a great deal.
Before going on the water, consult the official NOAA marine forecast, current NOAA tide and current predictions, and official nautical charts. Wind against tide can turn a familiar inlet dangerous in minutes. Weather models are wrong sometimes. You are responsible for your own safety and for everyone aboard with you.
2. No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Weather and tide data are supplied by third parties and may be delayed, interrupted, incomplete or wrong. The fishability score is an opinionated heuristic, not a scientific prediction, and it makes no promise about what any fish will do.
3. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ReelConditions and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from use of the site or reliance on anything it displays — including wasted trips, missed fish, property damage and personal injury.
4. Fishing regulations are your responsibility
Nothing here is regulatory advice. Seasons, size limits, bag limits, gear restrictions, licence requirements and access rules vary by state and by water body and change often. Consult your state fish and wildlife agency before you fish, and follow what they tell you.
5. Acceptable use
Please do not: scrape or automate the site in a way that burdens the upstream data providers (NOAA in particular asks that its API not be hammered); attempt to interfere with the site's operation; or reproduce substantial portions of the site's written content without permission.
6. Data attribution
Tide predictions are supplied by NOAA CO-OPS, a service of the US Department of Commerce. Weather and marine data are supplied by Open-Meteo. Neither endorses this site. US government works are in the public domain; the written guides, design and scoring model on this site are not, and remain the property of their author.
7. Advertising
This site displays third-party advertising. We do not endorse advertised products and are not responsible for advertisers' content, sites or practices. See the privacy policy for how advertising data is handled.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated; the date above will change when they are. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
